This year’s theme, BETTER TOGETHER, has never been more important than it is for our leaders. Although our format is different this year, there will be opportunities to learn, network, and develop the leadership skills for our new normal.
Featuring Keynote Speakers:
Melissa McClain – Melissa McClain is a graduate of Kent State University and is the Community Education Program Coordinator at Akron Children’s Hospital. She is responsible for a social and emotional learning curriculum that includes k-12 classroom education as well as psychological trauma education for educators and other professionals who work in a school environment. Since 2006, Melissa has educated over 70,000 students, school staff and community members. She has worked with over 150 Ohio school buildings and community organizations that work with youth and has also been lucky to travel to speak for state and national audiences on teen dating, emotional literacy, bullying, and psychological trauma.
Janet Monsour-Durr – Janet Monsour-Durr has been with the Hilliard City School District since 1994, teaching Spanish and English for Speakers of Other Languages and began serving as the District Diversity/Educational Equity Coordinator in 2005. Janet works across the District, establishing and facilitating efforts that support inclusion of all students; providing professional development on diversity and educational equity to faculty and staff; and convening and facilitating local community groups in the District’s equity work. Janet works at the state level, as both a Teacher Leader for the Ohio Department of Education and developer and facilitator of training for school resource officers. Janet’s equity work spans internationally with a focus on the value of youth advocacy and engagement. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with accreditation in Spanish and Teaching English as Another Language and a Master’s Degree in Education.
