Assistant Director of Human Resources – Olentangy Local School

Duties:

There will be an Assistant Director of Human Resources – Classified position available within the Olentangy Local School District for the 2022-2023 school year. The Assistant Director of Human Resources assists the Director of Human Resources in the planning, coordinating and supervision of the human resources department including the recruitment and selection of classified staff. To provide leadership, collaboration, and coordination in the area of human resources to accomplish the mission of the district.

 

Essential functions: assists with the planning and anticipation of classified staffing needs for the district; plans, coordinates and participates in the preparation of materials for the recruitment and hiring of all classified employees; investigates and provides assistance for disciplinary hearings of classified staff; oversees the maintenance of all classified personnel records; provides technical assistance in the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources department; assists building principals and other administrative staff with matters related to the personnel function; assists in ensuring the district abides by all state and federal laws applicable to the Human Resources department; coordinates and conducts required training for all district employees; assists in the interpretation of personnel policies and resolution of grievances or complaints by staff; investigates and monitors the status of all worker’s compensation claims through the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation; and, assists administrators with the evaluation process through provisions of schedules, forms, record keeping, etc.

 

Experience Required:

Qualifications for the position include: Master’s degree or higher in Educational Administration or Human Resources; minimum of five (5) years in Educational Administration preferred; and, the ability to assist in the development and implementation of programs. Alternative to the above qualifications as superintendent and/or board of education may find appropriate.

 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to understand and interpret policies and procedures; strong knowledge of school and personnel law; ability to maintain confidentiality in the processing of personnel data and the keeping of personnel records; and, the ability to prepare detailed reports and documents.

 

Wage or Salary: Competitive

Approximate Work Hours or Days: 260 days
