Athletic Director – Athens City Schools

Duties:

To organize, promote, administer, and evaluate all athletic programs to support the school district’s mission and reflect community values.  Recognize each contact with the public as an opportunity to promote a positive impression of the school district.  Act as a liaison between the district’s athletic program and the public.

 

• Directly accountable to the Superintendent

for the organization, promotion,

implementation, administration, and

evaluation of all athletic activities.

• Comply with all policies, rules, and

regulations of the State of Ohio Sports’

Medicine, Ohio High School Athletic

Association, Tri-Valley Conference, and the

Athens City School District Board of

Education.  Attend all Tri-Valley Conference

meetings.

• Regularly advise the Superintendent and

other district administrators about program

activities and emerging needs.  Keep current

with advances in equipment technology and

recommend modifications that will enhance

the athletic programs.  Oversee long range

planning for athletic facilities.

• Verify scholastic eligibility of all participants

with the principal’s office.  Maintain physical

card records in the athletic office.  Ensure

provisions are made for insurance coverage

for each participant or that a waiver is on file.

• Responsible for all financial transactions

associated with the athletic program (e.g.,

ticket sales, fund raising, fees, etc.).  Ensure

all funds are processed through student

activity accounts as required by law.

Administer the athletic program budget.

Confirm orders and pay for all athletic

equipment and supplies.

• Schedule all games, athletic contests, and

officials.  Develop and distribute a calendar

to all appropriate district staff.  Identify time,

location, and any special requirements

associated with the event.

Experience Required:

• A valid State of Ohio teaching or

administrative license, is preferred.

• Meet all current health requirements

including a negative tuberculosis test.

• Evidence of a clear record as determined by

the Bureau of Criminal Identification and

Investigation and/or Federal Bureau of

Investigation.

• Evidence of coaching, group management,

and organizational skills.

• Expertise in organized sports, training,

conditioning, motivational techniques.

• Completion of all Pupil Activity Validation

requirements.

• Documentation of current cardiopulmonary

resuscitation (CPR) training.

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications

as the Board may find appropriate and

acceptable.

 

Wage or Salary: $79,000 – $96,000 per administrative payscale Approximate Work Hours or Days: 261 paid days, 12 month contract
