Director of Community Engagement, Planning and Partnerships – Dublin City Schools



  • Keeps the District leadership team and the Board of Education informed of changes in local laws, regulations, and rules that may affect policy and procedural decisions.
  • Assists in promoting and representing the interest of the District to local governing bodies and the community.
  • Develops a District-wide community engagement plan that aligns with our district’s strategic plan and goals.
  • Ensures the district is engaging with parents, families, business leaders, and community organizations who represent underserved populations.
  • Leads communications functions to include researching, writing, and distributing press releases; works closely with the media (print, radio and television) to provide information upon request.
  • Pursues strategic outreach to community members and community-based organizations to encourage community interest and participation in important District-sponsored activities.
  • Demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of cultural and ethnic groups and individuals with disabilities within the DCS community.
  • Identifies potential civic engagement and leadership opportunities to strategically position the District as an influential community stakeholder on topics important to public education.
  • Serves as liaison between District staff and governmental offices and officials; assists governmental offices and officials to address and resolve District–related questions and concerns.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to support the School District’s comprehensive strategic communications program, with the goal of developing interest in and an understanding of the District’s mission, vision, and actions.
  • Represents the Superintendent and other District leadership during public presentations, speaking engagements, or other activities associated with District business, as requested; facilitates forums and other public meetings.
  • Plans and coordinates high-priority events on behalf of the Superintendent, as requested.
  • Establishes and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders internal and external to the District, including leaders and organizations in the community-based, civic, religious, political, philanthropic, business, and non-profit sectors to create trust, solidify a strong foundation to advocate for District priorities
  • Coordinates and attends all Board meetings, Board retreats and other events as requested, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Coordinates and completes special projects and reports for Board and Superintendent as assigned.
  • Coordinates Board committees and workgroups.
  • Produces high quality, professional written communications, including email responses, Board resolutions and media releases.
  • Conducts research, assembles and analyzes data to prepare reports and documents as required.
  • Follows up with Board members or special committees, as needed.
  • Conducts District business in compliance with federal and state law and Board policy.
  • Provides supervision, training and guidance to assigned staff, as well as, evaluation of staff performance.
  • Maintains a high standard of confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:


  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years experience in public school administration or experience in public policy and community relations, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of education policies, school board policies and procedures, and school district constituents, preferably in K-12 education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the areas of equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Ability to research and analyze information and summarize findings.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate the position of the school district to community stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to handle delicate and sensitive situations with professionalism.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and ability to work well under pressure.


Wage or Salary: Based on the Administrative Salary Schedule Approximate Work Hours or Days: 246 days per year
