Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
Supervises preschool and elementary principals; ensuring program alignment and accountability to improve student achievement Supervises the School Age Childcare program (SACC); ensuring compliance to all regulations Serve as the leader and general resource person in matters pertaining to the operation of elementary education Provides supervision to staff; ensuring optimum utilization of all PK-6 departmental staff Analyzes and interprets student performance data; providing recommendations for instructional improvement Provides continuous professional development to PK-6 elementary principals Collaborates with the Department of Teaching, Learning, & Professional Development to coordinate the ongoing evaluation of curriculum and instruction at the elementary level Supervises, directs, coordinates and assists with specially funded programs as assigned for PK-6 Collects and effectively addresses District-level parent complaints for Preschool and Elementary Visits elementary schools regularly to ensure effective communication Provides timely and effective communications regarding incidents that might impact the District, its departments or its schools to appropriate District personnel Coordinates Board of Education agenda items relating to Elementary Education Attends Board of Education, Cabinet and District team meetings as directed by Superintendent Responsible for administration of District-level school improvement plans for PK-6; providing support for instructional improvement Develops budgets and monitors spending for Elementary Education Department; ensuring efficiency and alignment to program objectives Oversees the preparation of reports and records required by law, Board policy, and/or administrative directive; ensures that all reports are submitted in a timely fashion Serves as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and Leadership Team
The Springfield City School District is seeking a Director of Elementary Education (PK-6).
The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:
Valid State of Ohio administrative license/certificate appropriate for the assignment Master’s Degree in Education or related services field Minimum 5 years in administrative assignment within a school district Minimum 5 years of teaching experience at the elementary level Demonstrated written and oral communication skills Self Motivated with an ability to operate independently
Wage or Salary: Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases with education Approximate Work Hours or Days: 234 days per school year
