Position Title Director of Workforce Training and Development
Job Description
The Director of Workforce Training and Development is responsible for the identification, development, planning, delivery, reporting, and evaluation of workforce training and development opportunities at Ashland University. The Director will create and promote not-for-credit workforce training certificate programs based on industry needs and develop and maintain strong relationships with community, industry and business partners. The immediate focus of this position will be on the execution of the 5G Readiness Grant and Ashland University’s Ohio TechCred Programs.

Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Identify, develop, and oversee revenue-generating workforce development initiatives such as TechCred and other federal/state funding sources for workforce training and development.
  • Oversee the development of workforce solutions for area business and industry partners including creating and promoting not-for-credit workforce training certificate programs based on industry needs.
  • Obtain labor market information and talent demand information to create workforce development and continuing education strategies.
  • Hire and oversee instructors for not-for-credit workforce development courses.
  • Develop content for formal presentations and recruitment of partners and students for workforce programs including continually researching new and innovative ways to market and promote workforce and continuing education offerings.
  • Create customized training solutions for industry partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community, industry and business partners.
  • Lead the 5G Readiness Pilot Program in coordination with the Wireless Infrastructure Network and implement all elements of the State of Ohio Workforce Development Grant..
  • Provide oversight, promotion, evaluation and reporting of the 5G Wireless Technology Training programs at AU.
Required Qualifications
Position Requirements:
 
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with course work in instructional design, organizational behavior, human resource management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • 5 years related experience in workforce training and development.
    • 3-5 years experience with or connection to JobsOhio, The Ohio Department of Commerce, or the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of public policy that affects workforce development programming.
    • Background in managing adult learning in various professional fields, including information technology.
    • Supervisory experience with full and part time employees.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

 


Skills:
 
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and regulations related to employment and training programs and adult education.
  • Knowledge of the principles of project management and program planning, design, and evaluation.
  • Considerable knowledge of the application and use of information technology.
