High School Principal & Site Administrator – Queen City Career Prep High School

Duties:

The Principal & Site Administrator leads the school team to success in our Three Pillars: Onboard Strength, Academic Strength, and Career Readiness Strength. First and foremost, he or she is a “people person” who leads the school team to recruit and retain a full student enrollment throughout the year. With full enrollment, the Principal & Site Administrator also ensures a quality educational experience, and guides students into promising job and career pathways.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Onboard Strength:

o Lead by example in the team effort of achieving full enrollment each summer.

o Maintain enrollment throughout the year through active retention efforts.

o Improve upon existing recruiting methods and develop new channels by spending significant time in your community with high school counselors, service agencies, and many other community resources that serve students who need to recover credits and find a safe and positive place to complete high school.

  • Academic Strength:

o Achieve “Meets Standard” or “Exceeds Standard” on the annual Ohio community school report card.

o Ensure that the academic program is engaging and serves the student’s needs for timely graduation and essential career-ready skills in reading, writing, and math.

o Collaborate with FusionEd’s network leadership to train your team in academic practices that maintain quality, effective programs.

  • Career Readiness Strength:

o Guide students into a promising job and career pathways as an integral part of their path to graduation and beyond.

o Collaborate with CTE staff in outreach to local employers to further develop job skills training at school and at work locations to simultaneously fulfill academic credits, work credit hours, pre-apprenticeship, and externship requirements.

 

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Desirable experience and credentials:

o Community School, Charter School teaching and leadership.

o Social services case management.

o Teaching experience and leadership.

o High School Curriculum and Instruction Methods.

o Ohio Principal licensure or statement of eligibility.

  • At least three years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications.
  • Satisfactory completion of federal and state required criminal history checks.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics • Strong leadership and building management; ability to lead staff and students effectively, communicating the mission of the school.

  • Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions.
  • Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting.
  • Understand the community and student demographics. The ideal candidate is a “pillar of the community,” with strong positive local social connections and the ability to develop new ones.
  • Understand state proficiency testing as well as state teaching standards.
  • Exhibit sound judgment while exhibiting flexibility regarding decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties • Ability to manage and communicate with difficult or emotional students, staff, parents, board members, and community members.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
