School Psychologist – Athens City Schools

Duties:

Essential Functions:

 

Perform all assigned duties according to the policies, rules and regulations of the Athens City School Board of Education and the Ohio Department of Education. Comply with all local and Federal Mandates.

 

Participate in the identification and placement of students with disabilities as prescribed in the Ohio Department of Education standards for the provision of special education services.

 

Provide comprehensive intellectual, social, academic, and behavioral assessments of children identified as, or thought to be disabled.  Evaluation results contribute to the multifactored evaluation process.

 

Participate as a team member with the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for each student identified as disabled.

 

Consult with teachers, parents, and other pertinent individuals on matters relating to the education and/or mental health of students to insure the provision of the most appropriate services in the least restrictive educational environment.

 

Provide case management services to students enrolled in programs outside the district (e.g., preschool, mental health, hospital, hearing, visually impaired, etc.). Help with the assessment of preschool and kindergarten screening, assessment, and data collection activities.

 

Participate in a differentiated referral system that allows school personnel and parents to request a multifactored evaluation and/or consultation for non-disabled students.

 

Assist with the proper interpretation of test results to diagnose learning difficulties, evaluate curriculums, and to interpret scores to students, parents, and teachers.

 

Participate in professional growth activities (e.g., professional associations, course work, workshops, seminars, etc.).  Share knowledge with colleagues.

 

Develop rapport and maintain the confidence of parents and students Serve as a role model for students.  Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect, and courtesy.

 

Experience Required:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with training in administration and supervision.

 

A valid State of Ohio professional pupil services school psychologist license.

 

A valid State of Ohio license as a school psychologist is desirable.

 

Meet all current health requirements including a negative tuberculosis test.

 

Evidence of a clear record as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and/or Federal Bureau of Investigation.

 

Knowledge of, and ability to access community resource

 

Wage or Salary: $79,000 – $93,000 based on current administrators salary scale. includes pickup on pickup of retirement Approximate Work Hours or Days: 202 Work Days
