School Psychologist Consultant – North Central Ohio Educational Service Center

The primary duties of the school psychology consultant (SPC) will be to support those districts without regional support. When there is a district lead therapist or psychologist, supervisor, or coordinator, the SPC will collaborate with these individuals in areas such as professional development. The positions will be hired through an educational service center (ESC) and reimbursed through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce:

Conduct professional development for district and regional school psychologists regarding evaluation and therapeutic interventions.
Conduct professional development for administrators, general and special education staff.
Assist districts with corrective action plan development and implementation addressing indicators 9 and 10 (disproportionality in special education).
Meet individually (virtually) with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Program Specialist for Related Services.
Meet as a group (virtually) with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Program Specialist for Related Services monthly.
Attend respective statewide professional association conferences.
Coordinate and collaborate with districts that have speech-language pathology or school psychology leads, supervisors, or coordinators.
Work in coordination and collaboration with each other, ESC and district staff
Offer effective guidance to school psychologists in managing caseloads. Drawing upon experience in the field explain the workload approach to navigating caseload challenges and offer personalized advice and practical strategies to empower individuals to work efficiently.
The SPC will conduct at least yearly, an analysis of a district’s strengths and opportunities for improvement regarding school psychology services, including but not limited to evaluation team reports compliance, IEP compliance, and other activities as deemed appropriate by the districts.
Suggested ESCs based on regional needs (disproportionality and lack of SLP consultant services) would be in the following regions:
Northwest (Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, and Wood counties)
Northeast (Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties)
West (Allen, Auglaize, Champaign, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, and Shelby counties)
Central (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Medina, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot counties)
Southeast (Guernsey, Muskingum, Belmont, Perry, Monroe, Morgan, Holmes, Coshocton, Harrison, Jefferson, Noble, Tuscarawas and Carroll counties)
South (Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Perry, Vinton, Washington, Ross, Pike, Scioto and Lawrence counties).


Experience Required
Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree in school psychology
Five to seven years’ experience as a school-based school psychologist, with preference given to those who have had administrator or supervisory experience
The individual must hold and keep current requirements for licensure initially through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce until licensure transfers to the Ohio Board of Psychology and must have and keep current with national certification requirement
Experience as a provider of professional development and technical assistance
Evidence of previous development of professional development materials
Experience coaching educators
Training in culturally responsive practices
Experience in analyzing and using student data and adult implementation data
Experience working with administrators
Experience facilitating or participating in the Ohio Improvement Process
Experience designing and implementing district-wide or school-wide multi-tiered system of supports
